ACCA Foundation Diploma
For secondary school leavers, candidates who are new to accountancy and candidates who have not attend any previous educational qualification.
As part of the flexibility of entry into the ACCA Qualification, the Foundations Diploma is the perfect place to start if you are a secondary school leaver, new to accountancy or have not attained any previous educational qualification. With this programme, a student can achieve certificates and diplomas along the way before progressing onto the qualification. There is no minimum entry or eligibility requirements and a student can start at any level in the programme (although it is recommended that a secondary school leaver starts at level 2).
The ACCA Foundations studies begins at the equivalent of the final year in O’level studies and progresses up to the equivalent of the first year of a bachelor’s degree. It comprises of 7 subjects leading to a number of awards which are:
- ACCA Diploma in Financial & Management Accounting (level 2)- 2 subjects
- Recording Financial Transactions (FA1)
- Management Information (MA1)
- ACCA Diploma in Financial & Management Accounting (level3)- 2 subjects
- Maintaining Financial Records (FA2)
- Managing Costs and Finance (MA2)
- ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business (Level 4)- 3 subjects
- Accountant in Business (FAB)
- Management Accounting (FMA)
- Financial Accounting (FFA)
A candidate will also need to complete a professionalism and ethics module called Foundations in Professionalism before they can be awarded any of the foundations level qualification. This module is an online interactive module which will help students understand what it means to act professionally and ethically at work. It can be completed before or after the foundation level examinations at the student’s own individual pace.

Computer Based Examination
ACCA On-demand CBEs allow for flexibility in your studies as you can sit them at any time of the year.
Also, results are displayed immediately at the end of the examination and uploaded to your ACCA account within 72 hours.

Applied Knowledge
This level provides students with an exceptional introduction to the world of finance and accounting and there are 3 Applied Knowledge exams:

Once these three examinations are completed a student may elect to receive the ACCA diploma in Accounting and Business and they also become eligible to start the Applied Skills examinations
Applied Skills
The examinations at this level help develop strong broad and practical skills required by a professional accountant in any sector or industry. In order to commence study at this level a student must either have completed the Applied Knowledge examinations, have achieved the ACCA diploma in Accounting and Business (RQF level 4) or have relevant accounting or finance qualification at degree level. Ethics and Professional Skills Modules
This module seeks to increase employability by exposing students to realistic business simulations which help develop their professional skills including leadership, communication and commercial awareness. The module also supports learning for the Strategic Professional examinations.
Practical Experience Requirement
Becoming a well-rounded professional accountant comes with experience so to qualify as an ACCA member, a candidate must complete 36 months relevant work experience and achieve 9 performance objectives (5 Essential objectives and 4 Technical objectives).
